Trump Administration to Launch ’TrumpRx’ for Affordable Drug Purchases
The TRUMP administration is set to announce a new direct-to-consumer drug purchasing platform, 'TrumpRx,' aimed at offering medications at government-negotiated prices. The initiative, reported by the Wall Street Journal, will be detailed in a joint announcement featuring President Trump and Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla. The plan includes measures to reduce drug costs for Medicaid patients and a $70 billion commitment from Pfizer for domestic production.
This move follows recent efforts by the administration to pressure pharmaceutical companies into lowering prices, including threats of 100% tariffs on foreign-branded drugs unless production shifts to the U.S. and demands for 'most-favored-nation' pricing for Medicaid. 'Democrats talked the talk for decades about drug prices, but only President Trump is actually walking the walk,' stated WHITE House spokesman Kush Desai.
